Viewers Corner News team would continue to write about this pension allowances being paid out to ex-governors of Nigeria which is so outrageous until a proper reform is carried out. Now a governor would serve only one term which is four years or two terms in office which is eight years in total and after this short period of time, he or she would start receiving huge amount of money as pension while those Nigerians who worked for over 35 years collect peanuts as pension, that is if it would come at all. This is not right, the ex-governors pension allowances would drain the resources of the country (Nigeria) if care is not taken. Again most of those ex-governors in Nigeria are also working as senators thereby receiving double pay, such system is wrong. We (Viewers Corner News team) are suggesting that pension allowances be paid only when an individual is retired from active service, that is the right procedure and by then the said individual must have reached the pension age as may have been agreed upon by law of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Therefore the lawmakers and the federal government of Nigeria should kindly review this pension system because of what is being paid out to those that do not deserve it. No country anywhere in the world can grow her economy by wasting money the way Nigerian pension division is paying out money carelessly and recklessly to ex-Nigerian governors and their deputies. Nigerian government and the lawmakers should always think about the future of the country (Nigeria). If we take a look at the current situation of Nigeria, things are becoming harder on daily basis which need more careful monetary and budget control. In the next 10 to 20 years for instance, more ex-governors would have joined the current ones receiving huge sum of money as pension without reaching the age limit, this alone can dry the treasury of Nigeria in the long run because billions of Nigerian hard earned money is being spent on where it should not have been spent. This is a problem that needs to be fixed quickly before it becomes too late to handle. Again the lawmakers and the Nigerian government should please plan towards the welfare of the people of Nigeria including those that are yet unborn, a long term planning is required to achieved this objective by cutting down on most wasteful spending such as the ex-governors pension allowances and putting what is gotten from their cut into good use. With that we can grow the economy of the country (Nigeria).
