THE ECONOMIC SITUATION OF NIGERIA AT THE MOMENT DOES NOT PERMIT A 45 PERCENT ELECTRICITY TARIFF INCREASE, PLEASE TREAD CAREFULLY.

Viewers Corner’s economic team in connection with some reputable international research organizations applaud APC/president Buhari’s led government for the strong will and honesty exhibited so far in the fight against corruption in the country (Nigeria) but issues concerning the growth of the Nigerian economy has earned him below average. This has to do with his ministers not performing nicely in their various ministries to uplift the sufferings of the Nigerian people. We  just pray and hope that this aspect does not affect APC negatively in the next election because we (Viewers corner) would like to see president Buhari in power again come 2019 so that he would be able to set a good standard for whoever that would come after him. This would ensure that the good work he started would continue most especially on the fight against corruption which is a killer disease that needs to be eradicated in the country (Nigeria). Now what we are trying to explain here is this issue of 45 percent electricity tariff hike has been discussed well enough and the federal government is still bent on passing it on to the Nigerian people who are facing severe economic hardship at the moment. Sincerely this hike would create another burden for them, our (Viewers corner) point is this before you increase this sort of tariff and pass it on to the citizens of the country (Nigeria), you should evaluate the financial power of the people. The citizens of Nigeria are in severe pains because the economy of Nigeria is not doing well at the moment so we advise that the federal government should raise money from somewhere to implement the tariff program pending when the situation of Nigeria is conducive for the people to carry the burden but if the federal government of Nigeria has decided to implement the 45 percent hike as they proposed then is their choice but they should remember that whatever they do now may affect them in the near future. We quite agree with the Nigerian government that if they do not increase the tariff, it would cost them a huge sum of money but then we (Viewers corner) believe that everything depends on proper planning. Let the federal government look elsewhere and raise money to finance this electricity program if need be instead of taxing the Nigerian citizens more than they can afford most especially now that the economic situation of the country is hitting them so hard.
Please increase your tariff only when the situation of the country (Nigeria) is a bit better and in so doing, you would win the heart of majority of the people in Nigeria.
