The tragedy of nuclear weapons deserves to be taken seriously on all levels. The atomic bombings in Japan gave birth to an organization named Nihon Hidankyo, which spread awareness of the disastrous outcomes that nuclear weapons could bring. Some of these survivors have felt firsthand the devastating power that such a weapon could unleash. This made them educate the rest of humanity, receiving global awards for their works. Their achievements include establishing a taboo on nuclear usage at an international level. In return for their tireless campaigns for a nuclear-free world, they have prestigious awards for peace advocacy. Despite everything that has been attained, nuclear war is still an impending threat. The hydrogen bombs of today are no doubt more powerful than the nuclear bombs of 1945. Recently heightened tensions between various major countries have prompted the call and cry for world peace. The main group for that call, of course, consists of organizations like Nihon Hidankyo, after whom people take collective action against nuclear weapons.
The world is desperately crying out for peace. We can create a safer future together. Wars and weapons are continually threatening the world’s peace, hence collective action and awareness can avert disastrous consequences.
