THE DEPUTY SENATE PRESIDENT OF NIGERIA (MR. IKE EKWEREMADU) IS ALLEGEDLY PROPOSING 50,000 NAIRA AS MINIMUM WAGE, THIS IS GOOD BUT MAY NOT HELP NIGERIANS OVERCOME THEIR ECONOMIC HARDSHIP. HE ALSO TALKED ABOUT 2 MILLION NAIRA MONTHLY SECURITY VOTE FOR GOVERNORS IN NIGERIA AS BEING HUGE BUT WHAT ABOUT THE SENATE?

One good thing in Nigeria is that those in power have agreed that the people of the country (Nigeria) are suffering and need to be uplifted which is one step ahead but the problem now is how and which method to employed to get these issues sorted out. The deputy senate president of Nigeria (Mr.Ike Ekweremadu) is allegedly proposing 50,000 Naira as minimum wage for Nigerian workers instead of the 18,000 Naira they are receiving at the moment. His suggestion is very nice because the 18,000 Naira is very low which is understandable and should be upgraded but our take on this is that the federal government of Nigeria should get very serious with those price control agencies in the country (Nigeria) so that they can enforce the selling and pricing laws correctly. This would avoid negative market reaction when the federal government eventually agrees to increase the minimum wage as people have been suggesting. It is better to receive less and be able to buy enough than to receive more and can not afford to buy reasonable things, this aspect needs careful planning so that mistakes would not be made. On the other hand it is better to receive 30,000 Niara and be very comfortable with it than receive 50,000 Naira and can not buy good things in the market, therefore the federal government of Nigeria should kindly make sure that there is price stability in the market before announcing the increase of minimum wage to the Nigerian public. We shall discuss more in our future article on how the federal government can control this aspect effectively without hurting both the seller and the buyers of various commodities in the market. It is also a known fact that both the governors and the senators are taking real fat pay back home but other Nigerians who put them into power receive little or nothing which is very bad. A complete review is very necessary concerning this issue so that these low income earners can at least be uplifted a bit because you all go to the same market to buy your various items and being in power today is as a result of those Nigerians you are paying peanuts or nothing. This means that they vote for you politicians to get good lives while they remain in abject poverty, this is not right. Increasing the minimum wage is not the only way to assist Nigerians but also making sure that other facilities which would enable them live a normal and happy life are provided for the Nigerian masses so that when they collect that little salary, they can be able to buy some good things to eat. The suffering Nigerians are passing through is too much and something has to be done about it, please assist them. Nigerians deserve to live a normal and happy life, it is their right to get it and should never be seen as a favour, no.
