Powerful twin bomb explosions which was detonated in Somalia’s capital (Mogadishu) near major government ministries, including foreign affairs have killed more than 300 people and seriously injured hundreds of others. The first explosion destroyed dozens of shops and the popular Safari Hotel in Mogadishu. Some minutes after the first explosion, a second vehicle bomb went off in the nearby Madina district. Somalia’s Saturday bomb attacks were the deadliest since Islamist extremist group al Shabaab began an insurgency in 2007. Viewers Corner News correspondent learned that about 40 seriously injured ones have been evacuated by air to Turkey for further treatment. Somalia’s authorities blamed the al-Qaida-linked al-Shabab extremist group but the extremist group is yet to claim responsibility for these deadliest attacks in the history of Somalia. President Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed of Somalia declared three days of mourning and also pleaded that people should donate blood to the injured who are being treated in the hospitals.
