It sounds so nice to hear that the government of Nigeria has concluded plans to build a coastal highway in the country. When this issue came up, most Nigerians were very excited. But then, they failed to ask real questions: Why would the government of Nigeria decide to build a coastal highway with trillions of naira when other roads across Nigeria have become a death trap? We believe that half of the money budgeted to build a coastal highway in Nigeria can fix all the roads that link to states and towns in Nigeria. In our opinion, this project is good, but it should not have come up for discussion at this point where Nigerians are facing real economic difficulties. The Viewers Corner News team correspondents have traveled around Nigeria, and we observed that there are so many federal roads that are no-go areas where Nigerians are losing their lives through accidents on a daily basis. So it would have been better if the government of Nigeria could fix these roads before engaging in a multi-billion-naira coastal highway project. Again, the Viewers Corner News team applauds Nigerians who are speaking out by telling the government of Nigeria that such a project is another way to enrich themselves. We also believe that this coastal highway project may not be completed in many years. Meaning that a huge sum of money is going to be tied down in such a project, which is certainly going to be marked as an uncompleted project as usual.
