It is no longer a news that the British government would return 4.2 million Pounds loots of ex-governor James Ibori of Delta state to Nigeria. This money is part of what ex-governor James Ibori of Delta state stole from the treasury while in office as governor of Delta state. The interesting part of this issue is, who is going to keep this huge amount of money? Is this 4.2 million Pounds going to the coffers of the federal government of Nigeria or to the Delta state government? In our opinion, since the said money was stolen from the coffers of Delta state government by ex-governor James Ibori who was then the governor of Delta state, it is the Delta state government that should have their money back. However, Viewers Corner News team applauds the hard work of the federal government of Nigeria for making sure that such stolen money is on its way back to the country. Again, the British government has no business on how the money is going to be used or dictate who gets the money, all that is required of the British government would be to have the 4.2 million Pounds paid back to Delta state government because that is where the money was stolen from. Although some Nigerians may have different opinion on this issue but Viewers Corner News team believes that it is better for the Delta state government to have their money back. If the British government had in the past been sincere to Nigeria, they should have stopped politicians coming from Nigeria to deposit stolen money into UK banks. Meaning that the United Kingdom (UK) is on top list of those destroying the economy of Nigeria with their manipulative games and this has to stop.
