National Assembly

THE AMENDMENT OF THE ELECTORAL ACT BILL BY MEMBERS OF THE NATIONAL ASSEMBLY IS THE GREATEST ACHIEVEMENT EVER RECORDED IN THE COUNTRY.

The direct primary issue has come to stay in Nigeria’s political arena. These were the words of the people of Nigeria, both at home and abroad, who welcomed the amendment of the electoral bill. The people of Nigeria, based on our findings, commended the members of the National Assembly for amending this bill. This would end the imposition of incompetent and corrupt individuals against the wishes of their people by governors in Nigeria. Nigerian governors are against the direct primary system for reasons best known to them. But the voters in Nigeria, who are the kingmakers, support the direct primary and say that it is what the country needs to move forward. So the Nigerian governors have no choice but to accept the demands of the Nigerian people. It is so surprising to see governors in Nigeria kicking against this bill. This will show the people of Nigeria that those destroying Nigeria are the governors. One of the reasons governors in Nigeria are kicking against the direct primaries is that, if the President signs the bill into law, they would not have the opportunity to fraudulently install their choice of candidates who would represent their selfish interests when they are out of office. This again shows that the presidency may not be the problem of Nigeria but governors of various states who do not want the people of their states to grow and move to the next level. The Viewers Corner News team is therefore appealing to President Buhari and his government to listen to the voice of the people of Nigeria by signing into law the amended electoral act bill that is on his desk. Doing so would mean that he is with the people of Nigeria who voted for him to lead the country. Do not listen to both the APC and PDP governors who are against the signing of this electoral bill into law. They are objecting to this beautiful system only because of their selfish gains, which is unacceptable to the majority of Nigerians both at home and abroad.
