THE ACTING PRESIDENT OF NIGERIA, YEMI OSINBAJO WAS VERY CORRECT WHEN HE SAID THAT NIGERIANS SHOULD STOP CELEBRATING THOSE WHO LOOTED THE TREASURY OF THE COUNTRY (NIGERIA).

Some Nigerians contributed to why politicians are looting the treasury of the country (Nigeria) because most Nigerians sing praises to politicians who share money regularly to them without asking or knowing the sources of the person’s wealth, as long as the money is there to spend. When people’s minds have been tuned towards that, it becomes very difficult to control and govern them because the language they know is, “the highest bidder wins the race and not integrity anymore”. All the politicians in Nigeria understand this formula properly and it has given rise to mass looting of the economy of Nigeria. In a society where almost everyone (both the young and old) are singing praises to those that they have lots of money to spend when they know that their sources of wealth came from looting the treasury of Nigeria is so surprising and under this condition, no nation can build a viable economy if this attitude is not properly controlled. In Nigeria today, most people are telling their children based on our findings that they should not waste their time going to the university when their mates are out there making billions of money etc. this misleading attitude from various families is wrong. No matter how we look at it, whether your children acquire education in the university and could not get a job at the moment, it is still better to give them that education because being educated will surely change the way they see issues most especially now that the world is a global village as a result of technological advancement. Somehow if you are not educated, you may not be able to access and enjoy the privileges that comes with it. Again we should think less of worldly acquisitions as a way of life, let us stop celebrating those who looted the treasury of Nigeria because they are the real problems of the country (Nigeria). We have seen some politicians who served jail terms being celebrated as heroes in their communities across the country (Nigeria), such attitude is wrong and also should be regarded as sending a wrong signal to the Nigerian youths by encouraging them to join politics and start looting as much money as they can lay their hands on which is bad. We should not go into politics with the intention to loot the treasury of the country (Nigeria), let our goals be on how to create better services for everyone in the country (Nigeria) by using the available resources within our reach to achieve that purpose. This is the essence of being a leader, not necessarily going into politics to loot the treasury of the country (Nigeria) so that our various communities in Nigeria would start celebrating us as heroes when we know that we are not. Please let us change our attitude and do what we are elected to do rather than looting the treasury of the country (Nigeria).
