Israeli and Lebanese postponed talks

TALKS OVER DISPUTED MARITIME BORDER BETWEEN ISRAEL AND LEBANON SCHEDULED TO TAKE PLACE THIS WEEK HAVE BEEN POSTPONED.

The Israeli and Lebanese officials said on Monday that talks between the two countries over disputed maritime borders which were scheduled to take place on Wednesday this week have been postponed. Israel and Lebanon have been engaged in U.S mediated talks to draw a sea border. The last round of talks were hosted by the United Nations in a southern Lebanese border town. According to the information our correspondent in Jerusalem gathered, the American mediators have decided to focus on dialogue between Israel and Lebanon in order to prepare the ground for the next round of talks. Israel and Lebanon are negotiating their disputed maritime borders that involve lucrative offshore oil and gas deals. Israel has developed offshore natural gas rigs in its economic waters and has started producing for domestic consumption and export abroad. On the other hand, Lebanon expects that the discoveries of oil and gas in its Mediterranean Sea waters could help alleviate its economic and financial crises.
