It was reported that investigation into the 2010 rape case allegedly committed by the founder of WikiLeaks, Julian Assange has been dropped by the Swedish prosecutors. According to the report our correspondent gathered, the investigation was dropped due to the amount of time that has passed since the alleged crime was committed. Julian Assange took refuge in Ecuador’s embassy in London for seven years to dodge being extradited to Sweden. He was kicked out of the embassy by Ecuador in April 2019 and was later sentenced to 50 weeks in prison for skipping bail in the United Kingdom. In 2017, Swedish investigators suspended the alleged rape case because they could not question Julian Assange, but reopened it this year after Assange was kicked out of Ecuador’s embassy in London. Julian Assange is also facing extradition to the United States on espionage charges related to leaked secret documents.
