Svetlana Tikhanovskaya, Belarus opposition leader on Wednesday, 19 August called on European Union to reject Belarus presidential election results. Svetlana Tikhanovskaya said that the presidential election was fraudulent. The country’s presidential election results in which President Alexander Lukashenko is claiming a sixth term has sparked massive protests in Belarus. Alexander Lukashenko (Belarus’s authoritarian leader) has led the country for 26 years and he claimed victory in the August 9 presidential election. President Emmanuel Macron of France, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and other EU leaders have called on Russia (Belarus’s powerful ally) to lobby for dialogue in Minsk.
