On Monday, April 30, 2018, Swedish authorities arrested three men suspected of preparing an act of terror in Stockholm’s northern suburbs. Sweden’s domestic intelligence agency (SAPO) stated that the suspects had been on the agency’s radar for a while and that the case has international links. According to the report, several people suspected to have links with the case have been brought in for questioning. One of the suspects is said to be an Uzbek citizen. Last year in April, an Uzbek man who said he wanted to punish Sweden for joining a coalition fighting the Islamic State extremists rammed a stolen truck into a shopping crowd in Stockholm, killing five people and wounded 14 others.
