The 31-year-old third seeded from Switzerland, Stan Wawrinka has defeated world number one Novak Djokovic to win US open 2016. Stan Wawrinka beats the 12-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic 6-7 (1), 6-4, 7-5, 6-3. Wawrinka is the oldest male US Open champion since the 35-year-old Ken Rosewall in 1970 and he also won titles at the Australian Open in 2014 and 2015 French Open. This is his first US Open and third Grand Slam title.
In the women’s US open 2016 final, Angelique Kerber of Germany won the title by defeating Karolina Pliskova of Czech Republic. The 28 year-old Kerber who is the new world number one defeated Pliskova (24 year old) 6-3 4-6 6-4 in New York to add the US Open to her victory at the Australian Open in January 2016.
In Women’s Doubles Final; Bethanie Mattek-Sands and Lucie Safarova won their third Grand Slam title by defeating the top-seeded French team of Caroline Garcia and Kristina Mladenovic 2-6, 7-6 (5), 6-4.
