The Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission of Nigeria, Mr. Abdulrasheed Bawa, has been accused of corruption by some prominent Nigerians. They told the Viewers Corner News correspondent in Abuja, Nigeria, that Mr. Bawa is a very corrupt man who should be investigated. They also accused Mr. Bawa of living above his means as a public officer, allegedly collecting bribes from politicians and fraudulent businessmen to finance his lavish lifestyle. When Mr. Bawa was appointed as the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission of Nigeria, most Nigerians were not happy because they said that his past records of where he worked before becoming the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission of Nigeria were questionable. There were some corruption issues tied around his neck, which should have disqualified him from the job. Unfortunately, those who brought him to office wanted a man they could control; hence, they chose him. Now, Mr. Bawa, being their preferred person, is doing exactly what they want him to do. It was also revealed how Mr. Bawa requested a two million dollar bribe from Zamfara state governor, Mr. Bello Matawalle, which he refused to give to him, and many other corruption issues against Mr. Bawa. Some Nigerians thought that as a young man, he would do things differently, but unfortunately, he has turned out to be the worst Economic and Financial Crimes Commission Chairman Nigeria has ever had since the agency was established. Those who spoke to the Viewers Corner News correspondent in Abuja said that his atrocities would catch up with him in no time; it is just a matter of time. So Nigerians should keep their fingers crossed and watch how these issues play out.
