Airstrikes in Orlu

SOME NORTHERN ELDERS ARE NEGOTIATING WITH BANDITS IN THE NORTHERN PART OF NIGERIA TO HAVE THOSE THEY KIDNAPPED FREED WHILE THE NIGERIAN ARMY CONDUCTS AIRSTRIKES IN ORLU (SOUTH EAST).

The Nigerian army is busy conducting airstrikes in some part of Orlu, a town in the south east part of Nigeria where the Eastern Security Network is believed to have a base. It was revealed to Viewers Corner News correspondent in Owerri that it was the Imo state governor that invited the Nigerian army to come and take out the Eastern Security Network which most south east leaders do not support their activities in that part of Nigeria. In our opinion, the Eastern Security Network has not gone against the laws of Nigeria. The security outfit came into existence to protect lives and properties of the people of that region just like every other region in Nigeria who formed a similar security outfit. Viewers Corner News team is therefore appealing to the Nigerian army to employ dialogue in handling issues in Orlu because dropping bombs in that region is not the solution to ending such problem instead it would create more of it. If some prominent leaders in the northern part of Nigeria can allegedly go inside the forest to negotiate with bandits who have been kidnapping and killing innocent people of Nigeria and possibly pay ransoms to have those they kidnapped released, then it is better for Nigerian government to dialogue with the Eastern Security Network. Again, President Buhari’s government should employ dialogue in handling Orlu’s crisis instead of using airstrike as an option because doing so would worsen the hatred among various ethnic groups. Viewers Corner News team is calling on the federal government of Nigeria to use dialogue in solving issues, this is a democracy and not a military regime where force is used in all cases.
