SOME NIGERIAN POLITICIANS WHO STOLE BILLIONS WOULD GET LESS JAIL TERMS WHICH INCLUDES OPTION OF FINE BUT THOSE WHO STEAL LESS THAN TWO THOUSAND NAIRA WOULD GET LONGER SENTENCE AND NO OPTION OF FINE. IS THIS FAIR?

We (Viewers Corner News team) shall begin this article with a quote; “the children of those you victimised because they have no bargaining power to fight their cases would not let you have peace as long as you favour only those with bargaining power”. It was revealed that most politicians in Nigeria who stole billions of Naira thereby crippling the economy of the country (Nigeria) were given less sentences which involves option of fine. Most of those corrupt politicians prefer the option of fine method than going to prison which they paid instantly after a guilt verdict has been pronounced on them but those who stole little were given longer jail terms without any option of fine. In our (Viewers Corner News team) opinion, this is not a fair judgement. If you are among those judges or magistrates in Nigeria who would see white and call it black, time has come for you to have a rethink and do what is right. If any case is brought to your court, those who stole billions should pay a heavy price for their actions because stealing billions of Naira is the reason Nigeria is almost grounded till today. In some countries of the world, embezzling such huge amount of money attracts death sentence, though Viewers Corner News does not encourage such punishment on any human being because the life is not created by anyone but God Almighty. He knows when to take what he created, but as an individual in the judiciary, let fairness be your watchword. This is one of the ways a healthy society can be built, always stand by the truth.
