SOMALIA’S ISLAMIST GROUP, AL SHABAAB ON SUNDAY ATTACKED A MILITARY BASE IN KENYA USED BY BOTH KENYAN AND UNITED STATES FORCES.

Our (Viewers Corner News) correspondent reported that a military base, Manda Bay Airfield in Lamu county (Kenya) used by both Kenyan and United States forces has been attacked by the Somalia’s al Shabaab militant group. Three Americans (one U.S military service member and two contractors) were killed by Somalia’s al Shabaab militant group during the attack. The Manda Bay Airfield’s attack according to the report was confirmed by the United States-Africa Command (AFRICOM). The al Shabaab claimed responsibility for the attack. The Manda Bay Airfield in Lamu county is a military base in Kenya where United States forces provide training and counter terrorism support to East African partners. Lamu county has been frequently targeted by al Shabaab with roadside bombs and ambushes on travelers or attacks on isolated villages. Al Shabaab has been fighting for over ten year to overthrow the government and impose strict Islamic law.
