SEVENTEEN WORKERS OF GOLDMAN SACHS HAVE BEEN CHARGED WITH CRIME BY MALAYSIAN AUTHORITY.

Our (Viewers Corner News) correspondent in Kuala Lumpur reported that seventeen employees of Goldman Sachs have been charged with crime over 1MDB scandal by Malaysian government on Friday, 9 August 2019. They were accused of playing a role in the alleged multibillion-dollar stealing of state investment fund (1MDB). According to the report our correspondent gathered, Malaysian prosecutors alleged that bond sales organised by Goldman Sachs for 1MDB provided a means for Najib Razak (former prime minister of Malaysia) and his associates to steal and launder billions of money. Those charged in the crime include Michael Sherwood (former vice chairman of Goldman Sachs Group), Michael Evans (president of Alibaba Group Holding Ltd and a former director at Goldman Sachs LLC, Asia) and Richard Gnodde (chief executive of Goldman Sachs International). In 2009 when Najib Razak took office, he set up 1MDB to boost economic development of Malaysia but investigators alleged that about $4.5bn was stolen from the fund and laundered by Najib’s associates. Ex-prime minister Najib Razak is currently on trial for alleged criminal breach of trust, abuse of power and money laundering.
