SAUDI ARABIA LIFTS TRAVEL RESTRICTION ON WOMEN, MEANING THAT WOMEN CAN TRAVEL ABROAD WITHOUT APPROVAL FROM MALE.

Viewers Corner News correspondent in Riyadh reported that Saudi Arabia on Friday, 2 August has lifted the male guardianship on women travelling abroad. This means that the women in the kingdom can travel abroad without approval from male guardian, which before now has made high-profile women tried to escape from their guardians (husband, father and other male relatives). The news was also confirmed by Reema Bandar Al-Saud (Saudi Arabia’s first female ambassador to the United States) in a social media post. If implemented, the reform will allow women over the age of 21 to obtain passports and travel without their male guardian’s permission.
