Saudi Arabia has offered a cease fire proposal to Yemen’s Houthi rebels

SAUDI ARABIA ANNOUNCED CEASE FIRE PLAN TO YEMEN’S HOUTHI REBELS.

It was reported that Saudi Arabia has offered a cease fire proposal to Yemen’s Houthi rebels in order to end the country’s six-year war which has caused the world’s largest humanitarian crisis. The cease fire proposal includes reopening of Sanaa International Airport, but the Houthis said that the offer did not appear to go far enough to lift a blockade. This cease fire proposal comes after the Houthis rebels increased drone and missile attacks on Saudi Arabia’s oil sites. The Kingdom is also trying to restore its image with the United States under President Joe Biden. Saudi Arabia said that the cease fire plan would be presented to both Yemen’s internationally recognized government and the Houthis, stating that both need to accept the plan for the cease fire to move forward. Yemen’s internationally recognised government, the United States and Antonio Guterres (the United Nations Secretary-General) issued statements welcoming the offer.
