It was reported that Saleh Mohammad Achekzai (a candidate in upcoming parliamentary election) is among those killed on Tuesday, 9 October 2018 by a suicide bomber during an election rally in Lashkar Gah, the capital of Helmand (Afghanistan’s southern province). Also eleven (11) people were wounded in the blast and no group has claimed responsibility for the attack.
Taliban militants have increased its attack in strategic provinces ahead of the election which will be held on October 20, 2018. The Taliban has ordered the Afghans to boycott voting and also demanded that a complete withdrawal of foreign forces is the only way they will end the 17-year-old war.
