Nasarawa state and few other states in the country (Nigeria) have decided to cut down workers’ salaries so that their states can be able to finance most of their projects. This option of salaries cut is not the best solution and would hurt the people of the state in a very terrible manner which is wrong. We also believe that any state governor that is in the practice of cutting workers’ salaries is not worthy of being called a governor. The workers’ salaries are not even enough to feed their families and upon that the state government would want to cut it down. Viewers Corner News and the advisory team would suggest a pay cut for the well to do people within the state. Companies that are doing nicely should pay more taxes, also the well placed individuals like the politicians within the state should pay more taxes but in all, it would be better to carry out a tax reform to know who should pay more and who should not pay more instead of cutting workers’ salaries. We say so because the economic hardship Nigerians are facing at the moment does not give room for any salary cut, this is the truth.
What about the internally generated revenues coming from various states of the country and the federal allocation? Have that been used judiciously? Please leave the poor workers alone and look elsewhere to solve the problems facing your states.
