Salahuddin Quader Chowdhury of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party and Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mujahid of the Jamaat-e-Islami party were hanged at the Dhaka Central Jail on Sunday, November 22, 2015. Viewers Corner News correspondent learnt that these two men (former members of Bangladeshi Parliament) were convicted in 2013 on the charges that included genocide and torture during the country’s war of independence in 1971.
According to report, the Bangladeshi prime minister, Sheikh Hasina set up a domestic war crimes tribunal (the three-judge panel) in 2010 to bring justice for the victims of the war crime and Salahuddin Quader Chowdhury and Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mujahid were accused of fighting for the Pakistani during the conflict which left thousands of the Bangladeshi dead.
