In October 2015, Governor David Umahi gave huge amount of money as a gift to Secretary to the Federal Government of Nigeria, Engineer Babachir David Lawal which the man mentioned openly during a thanksgiving service held in Abuja (Nigeria) on October 17, 2015.
For whatever reason such cash gift was given, we (Viewers Corner) do not know and Viewers Corner has in the past written an article on this issue, we also pointed out that such cash gift is not necessary because Ebonyi state people are not well cared for, hunger and poor governance is visible everywhere in Ebonyi state. Why then would he (David Umahi) give out such money to Secretary to the Federal Government of Nigeria, Engineer Babachhir David Lawal? We also mentioned in our previous article that Governor David Umahi is looking for every means possible to get access to the federal government, again all our (Viewers Corner) findings are real. Somehow there is nothing wrong for anyone to give out gift to someone but it has to be done the right way and not using money to buy one’s way through, just like Governor David Umahi is doing. This is bribery/corruption and is unacceptable. He should have used that money to create social services for the Ebonyi state people because they need it most rather than spending it recklessly and carelessly.
Our (Viewers Corner) concern on this issue is, let Governor David Umahi create infrastructural facilities for the Ebonyi state people and stop throwing away money all in the name of wanting a favour or a means of getting to the federal government through the back door. Honestly we are pleased that lots of people in Ebonyi state and across Nigeria are beginning to see reasons why we (Viewers Corner) are asking Governor David Umahi to do the right thing for his state. Recently, a group of concerned indigenes of Ebonyi state known as “Ebonyi Indigenes Association” wrote a letter asking the Secretary to the Federal Government of Nigeria to disclose how much of the states money their Governor gave him and they also gave him 30 days to comply or face legal action. The Ebonyi Indigenes Association said that the money was given without budgetary approval and as such may have been an inducement. Viewers Corner would suggest to the Concern indigenes of Ebonyi State to talk with their Governor David Umahi to concentrate on his state by using the available resources in the state to create better living conditions for the Ebonyi state people.
Again, the monthly allocation from the federal government if properly used would be more than enough to get these facilities created and he should also review his tax policies in Ebonyi state so that the tax collectors would stop harassing the poor indigenes of Ebonyi state. Governor David Umahi should try and govern his state in a way that would not hurt the innocent indigenes of Ebonyi state because the hardship is too much for them to bear. Governor David Umahi should also spread the wealth of Ebonyi state to reach all the people of his state and he should not eat alone.
