Ray Tomlinson, an Internet pioneer and U.S computer programmer who invented e-mail is reported dead. According to report, Ray Tomlinson died of heart attack on Saturday and he was 74 years old.
In 1971, Tomlinson brought the idea of using electronic messages (e-mail) that could be sent from one network to another and his invention included the use of “@” symbols in email addresses. He was inducted into the Internet Hall of Fame (IANS) in 2012 when his work was recognised by his colleagues.
