PRESIDENT VLADIMIR PUTIN OF RUSSIA SIGNED LAW TO EXTEND NEW STRATEGIC ARMS REDUCTION TREATY BY FIVE YEARS.

Viewers Corner News correspondent in Moscow reported that President Vladimir Putin on Friday last week signed law extending New Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty by five years. The treaty which was signed in 2010 and would soon expire is the last major pact between Russia and the United States. Last week Wednesday, Russia’s lower and upper houses of parliament voted to extend the treaty. Russia stated that the New Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty extension will be effective immediately the two countries (United States and Russia) exchanged diplomatic notes after they complete their domestic procedures. The New Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty is a global arms control and limits the number of strategic nuclear warheads, missiles and bombers that Russia and the United States can deploy.
