It was reported that President Vladimir Putin of Russia has on Tuesday congratulated Joe Biden on his victory in the United States presidential election after Joe Biden won the state-by-state Electoral College vote which officially determines the United States presidency. Earlier, Russian government said it would wait for the United States official result before congratulating the winner. According to the report, President Putin wished Joe Biden success and expressed Russia’s readiness to work with the United States despite their differences, to solve problems and challenges facing the world. The United States electors on Monday casted their Electoral College votes and formally gave Joe Biden 306 electoral votes which is more than the 270 electoral votes needed to certify his election victory. President Donald Trump has 232 electoral votes which is below the threshold needed to win the presidency. President Trump and his associates have lost over 50 lawsuits in battleground states contesting the vote. President Trump is the fifth president in the United States 244-year history to lose a bid for reelection after a single term in the White House. On 20 January 2021, Joe Biden would be sworn in as the 46th United States president.
