The recent killing of an Army General (Athanase Kararuze and his family) in Burundi was a sad one. This sort of killing by unknown gunmen has been happening in the country (Burundi) for a while because the citizens of the country have been pushed to the wall, athough using violence to settle issues is not the best solution to peace so we (Viewers corner) totally condemn this option. We also gathered from our correspondent in Burundi that Fatou Bensouda (an outstanding prosecutor from the International Criminal Court) has promised to carry out investigation regarding the killings happening in the country (Burundi) which is a good news. The issue is this, honestly we (Viewers corner) believe that before any dispute is settled or an investigation is being conducted, everyone who is championing this course should first look into the causes of how it all started. There is a parable which say that “there is no smoke without fire”. The point we are trying to make here is that the president of Burundi, Pierre Nkurunziza is the one causing these problems which everyone around the world knows and now people seem not to address that issue. Pierre Nkurunzia is an individual with a very low mentality who has no respect and regard for human lives, he has refused to accept and acknowledge one of the best principles of democracy which is government of the people. He has served the country (Burundi) as required by the constitution of Burundi and having completed his two tenures in office, he should have handed power over to the next government through a democratic means but he refused and now he is doing a third term in office which is totally against the constitution of the country (Burundi). Why would he not obey the constitution of Burundi? This is a man (Pierre Nkurunziza) who loves powers so much and has decided to continued his terrible rule even when the citizens of the country do not want him, this is why the country is having these problems till today which has led to the killings of thousands of people. Again carrying out investigation concerning the killings happening in the country (Burundi) is a good one but that should not be the main issue as proposed by Fatou Bensouda/ the International Criminal Court. Honestly we (Viewers corner) are appealing to all the peace loving countries of the world including other international bodies most especially the United Nations, the European Union and the African Union to put pressure on the president of Burundi (Pierre Nkurunziza) to obey and respect the constitution of the country which says only two terms is required for any sitting president of Burundi which he has successfully completed but refused to hand power over to the next democratic government so that peace can come to the country because innocent citizens of the country are being killed on daily basis. These are human beings created by God Almighty and should have the right to life and not being killed by anyone, this is not right.
