It is not a hidden thing that President Buhari and his administration supported governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi state (Nigeria) during the governorship election which gave him the opportunity to be reelected to office. No ill feeling about that, but as a governor who according to statistic has been a complete failure to his state (Kogi state), he should not have been given another chance to lead if it were when President Buhari had zero tolerance for underperformance. We (Viewers Corner News team) can not talk about Nigeria’s governors underperformance without revisiting governor Yayaha Bello’s first tenure which is about to end, taken into consideration the huge money he received from the federal government of Nigeria to fix Kogi state but failed completely to do so. We (Viewers Corner News team) are asking, is this not underperformance? Again, most Nigerians are their own problem, meaning that once they are benefiting from a government, whether the government in question is doing bad or good job for the state or country, it does not matter to them. If a certain group of people in a society have this mindset, then it would be difficult for the country (Nigeria) to grow. Though someone will definitely support a failed governor like Yahaya Bello of Kogi state, he should be told the truth where and how he failed but supporting him just like that without telling him the truth would not let him understand his mistakes completely. If President Buhari said that he would not accept underperformance from All Progressives Congress (APC) governors, he should stand by it because in our (Viewers Corner News team) record, he supported governor Yahaya Bello who could not pay workers salaries and pensioners allowances in his state and this is part of underperformance, despite the huge money he (governor Yahaya Bello) received from the federal government of Nigeria to fix Kogi state, still he could not perform properly. If it were in the past, money would never be given to governor who can not perform properly on his job. In the 80’s, President Buhari and the late Tunde Idiagbon stood their ground when issues of non performance, corruption and indiscipline were concerned but today, it is the opposite. Even though Nigeria is running a democratic system of government, but certain actions of President Buhari should not be compromised because that is what makes him a great man and acceptable to lots of Nigerians both home and abroad. However, we (Viewers Corner News team) are waiting to see how governor Yahaya Bello’s second tenure would be, if really he would get the job done properly this time by first making sure that salaries and pensioners allowances of the people of Kogi state (Nigeria) are paid promptly which is the most important aspect of leadership.
