PRESIDENT BUHARI SHOULD BE COMMENDED FOR EXTENDING THE CLOSURE OF NIGERIA’S BORDERS TILL JANUARY 2020. WISE DECISION.

Two things are involved here; No country in the world would achieve full potential when it allows her country to be used as a dumping ground for all sorts of goods, perhaps in a bid to assist neighbouring countries. Secondly no country would succeed when it rely heavily on imported goods to run the economy of her country because in the long run, such a country may become a beggar nation. Look at Republic of Benin for example, nothing is being produced there when they have a government in power. All they do is allow their country (Republic of Benin) to be used by dubious businessmen from all over the world as a dumping ground for all sorts of cheap goods which would later be exported to other African countries. In a situation like this, how can they (Republic of Benin) succeed as a nation when they rely mostly on imports to run their economy? If you travel to Republic of Benin, all sorts of damaged used cars and other edible items, some have expired and repackaged which may be harmful for human consumption are found in most places in that country which is bad. These are goods already waiting to be transported to Nigeria and other African countries which is not right. In fact, if the government of Republic of Benin is wise, they should be thanking Nigerian government for closing her border because it would give them the opportunity to start thinking of how to be self reliance on issues of production to sustain their economy and not waiting for imports from abroad before they can survive. They should take the closure of Nigeria’s borders as a wake up call for development. Nigeria as a country is not being wicked by closing her borders, NO. We (Viewers Corner News team) value this method and regard it as a means for other African countries including Nigeria to grow their economy and become great nations. Viewers Corner News team would also plead with President Buhari and his government to have Nigeria’s borders closed beyond January 2020. It should remain closed until the needful is done.
