PRESIDENT ASHRAF GHANI OF AFGHANISTAN PLANS TO RELEASE 1,500 TALIBAN PRISONERS TO PAVE WAY FOR TALKS WITH THE INSURGENT GROUP.

It was reported that 1,500 Taliban prisoners would be released from prison in coming days to pave way for Afghanistan government and the insurgent group to begin talks on how to end the country’s 18 years war which has killed millions. Our correspondent in Kabul gathered that a two page decree has been signed by President Ghani on that issue. In the decree, it was allegedly stated that all the members of Taliban released would provide a written guarantee that they will not return to battlefield in future. Also the decree stated the process in which the prisoners would be released and it would be completed within 15 days. At least 100 prisoners would be released from the prison every day. The release of the Taliban from jail is part of a measure to pave way for talks between the two sides ( Afghanistan government and the Taliban) and the United States in order to end the war in Afghanistan.
