Pope Francis has appointed Greg Burke, a former Fox News correspondent as the head of the Vatican press office and Paloma Garcia Overo as the deputy spokesperson. The 56-year-old American Greg Burke started with the Vatican in 2013 as the head of public-relations operation and he will succeed the outgoing chief spokesman, Federico Lombardi on August 1, 2016.
The 40-year-old Spanish journalist, Paloma Garcia Overo will be Greg Burke’s deputy and she worked previously as the correspondent of the Spanish broadcasting company (COPE). Greg Burke also worked as the correspondent of the National Catholic and Time magazine, also he is a member of the influential conservative Catholic group “ Opus Dei” (meaning a lay person but celibate).
