Viewers Corner News learnt from our source in Manila (Philippine) that forty Abu Sayyaf extremists have been killed by the Philippine troops. According to the information, the troops who were waging war against the Abu Sayyaf extremists in the first major counter-terrorism offensive under the new president of the country (Rodrigo Duterte) have killed 40 Abu Sayyaf extremists and wounded 25 others. This assault happened recently in the jungles of Sulu (950 kilometers south of Manila) and in the town of Tipo Tipo (island province of Basilan). The troops were backed by rocket-firing helicopters and artillery fire during the assault.
President Rodrigo Duterte who began his six year in office on June 30, 2016 as the president of Philippine has vowed to make the country free from crime. The Abu Sayyaf extremists (listed by Washington and Manila as a terrorist organization) are known for deadly bombings, ransom kidnappings and beheadings.
