President Paul Kagame has won a third term in office as the president of Rwanda thereby extending his 17 years in power. Electoral authorities in Rwanda announced that President Paul Kagame won 99 percent of the total votes. The 59-year-old Kagame became the president of Rwanda since 1994 when his rebels helped to end the country’s genocide which the Hutu extremists massacred over 800,000 people of Tutsis and Hutus. Kagame faced two candidates in the presidential election (an independent candidate, Philippe Mpayimana and a candidate of Democratic Green Party of Rwanda, Frank Habineza). Congratulations to President Paul Kagame of Rwanda.
