Viewers Corner News correspondent was on the ground when the argument between the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) agents and the former Director-General of Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Patrick Akpobolokemi ensued, this incident happened at the premises of the federal high court in Ikoyi, Lagos (Nigeria). Our correspondent revealed that Mr Patrick Akpobolokemi left the court on bail and was rearrested but unfortunately they were some sorts of confusion surrounding this issue. Mr Patrick was heard shouting he was on bail but still the law enforcement agents did not listened to him, all they were interested in was to make sure that he was bundled into their van which they succeeded in doing, all these happened in the presence of his lawyers. Patrick Akpobolokemi was accused along with five other staff of the maritime agency for embezzling billions of naira belonging to the Nigerian maritime agency. Our take on this is that if you are on bail and the law enforcement agents ask you to follow them never say no, be gentle and work according to their rules instead of trying to resist them, you would only get hurt on the process. The only thing you can do at that point is to contact your lawyer but if they say no at that particular time, cooperate with them and do that later because if you keep on fighting with them, your right could turn to wrong. Anyhow it is your lawyer who will surely get you out. Our (Viewers Corner News team) advice to the Nigerian politicians and other public office holders is; if you embezzled huge amount of money which does not belong to you, sincerely only you and your God knows whether it is true or not somehow it would be better to confine in your lawyer, tell him that you would like to settle out of court. Pay back what you have stolen quietly and be free of public disgrace. Your lawyers know what to do in this aspect instead of going to court to disgrace yourselves. We understand that everyone has the right to go to court and defend himself or herself because we live in a free world but instead of bringing shame to yourselves and your families, the best option would be to settle out of court and get your peace. It is still not too late to take this option because more and more names would be coming soon so if you know that you are in this category, please save yourself and your family the embarrassment and do the right thing. This is just an advice from Viewers Corner News to all the politicians/public office holders that belong to this category in Nigeria, do not wait until the law track you down.
