OSCAR PISTORIUS’S PREVIOUS CONVICTION OF CULPABLE HOMICIDE HAS BEEN OVERTURNED TO MURDER BY SOUTH AFRICAN SUPREME COURT OF APPEAL.

Oscar Pistorius, a South African Paralympic gold medalist who shot his model girlfriend, Reeva Steenkamp through a locked toilet door on February 14, 2013 and claimed that he mistook her as an intruder, has been found guilty of murdering Reeva Steenkamp by the higher court. The original court judgment convicted Oscar Pistorius of culpable homicide but the South African State prosecutors appealed the verdict in the higher court. Judge Eric Leach who presided over the case at the Country’s Supreme Court of Appeal convicted Oscar Pistorius of murder of Reeva Steenkamp on Thursday, December 3, 2015. According to report, Judge Eric Leach flawed the previous judgement saying that lower court did not apply the rule of dolus eventualis (whether Pistorius knew that a death would be a likely result of his actions). Though the court has not decided the jail term of Oscar Pistorius but he faces not less than 15 years in prison. Oscar Pistorius is currently under house arrest in his uncle’s home after serving one year of his original five-year sentence in jail.
