History was made in Yoruba land on Sunday, January 17, 2016 when the newly crowned Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi paid a visit to the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi who celebrated his 45th coronation anniversary. It was a big surprise and equally a great joy to Yorubas because this is the first time an Ooni of Ife is visiting the Alaafin since 1937 due to the rivalry over supremacy that existed between the two powerful Yoruba leaders in the past. According to our correspondent who was at the Methodist Church in Apaara (Oyo state), the venue of the 45th coronation anniversary thanksgiving service of Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III, when the convoy of Oba Ogunwusi reached the church, people were amazed. The most surprising one was when Oba Enitan Ogunwusi entered inside the church, he walked straight to where the Alaafin sat, he shook hands with him and then sat beside Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III. Other royal fathers who graced the occasion were, the Timi of Ede, Owa Ajero of Ijero, Ore of Otun Ekiti, Orangun of Ila, Akinrun of Ikirun, Aragbiji of Iragbiji and Elerin of Erin Osun. This is a nice news and Viewers Corner applaud Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi for his peaceful move in trying to unite the Yorubas. We also pray for his longevity on the throne.
