Sometime ago, Mr Yerima Shettima said that Northern Nigeria would hold on to power beyond 2023 which we (Viewers Corner News team) see as one of the reasons various ethnic groups across Nigeria can no longer trust each other to live as one big family like the founding fathers of Nigeria expected. For Mr Yerima Shettima to say that Nigeria is more divided now is hypocrisy and could be traced to his statements he made including other Nigerians with similar views. Again, for Nigeria to grow and become a better nation, everyone should start seeing each other as one, certain unguided statements should not be used because it could hurt other ethnic groups in the country (Nigeria). We (Viewers Corner News team) are appealing to those at the leadership level in Nigeria to always preach peace, unity and have it practised. Look at appointments to various positions in Nigeria, each time a leader is elected to lead the country, instead of getting very qualified individuals to head various departments, those that are less qualified are appointed because of sentiment or tribalism and any country in the world that uses such system to run her economy can never grow or move forward. Issues like this to an extent can bring division and distrust among people of the country (Nigeria) which should not have been so. Nigerians should mind their utterances and be careful on how to use them. As a leader, preaching peace and unity should be your goal which is one of the qualities of a good leader.
