NKOSAZANA DLAMINI-ZUMA IS STILL THE AFRICAN UNION COMMISSION PRESIDENT, THE UNION FAILED TO ELECT A NEW LEADER AT ITS 27TH SUMMIT MEETING HELD IN RWANDA.

Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, the African Union Commission President supposed to step down as her tenure has elapsed but the African leaders’ inability to elect a new leader at its 27th summit in Rwanda has made her term to be extended.
According to information Viewers Corner News correspondent in Kigali (Rwandan capital) gathered, none of the three candidates (candidates from Botswana, Equatorial-Guinea and Uganda) vying to lead the executive branch of the bloc was unable to gather the two-thirds majority needed to win in the secret ballot during its 27th summit meeting held in Kigali (Rwandan capital). Most African leaders complained that the three candidates (from Botswana, Equatorial-Guinea and Uganda) vying for the post were less known to them and this resulted to 28 of the 54 member states abstaining from the final round of voting. The Union postponed the election to January when their next summit will be held hence the current President, Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma tenure has been extended.
