NINETEEN MILLION NAIRA WAS SPENT ON INTERNATIONAL TRAVELS BEFORE COVID19 STARTED ACCORDING TO NIGERIA’S MINISTER OF INFORMATION (MR LAI MOHAMMED).

Most people in Nigeria are not accusing the minister of information (Mr Lai Mohammed) for making up figures over the nineteen million Naira allegedly spent by his ministry on international travels before the covid19 started but their worries are that such huge amount of money should not have been recklessly spent only on travels, taking into consideration the economic situation of Nigeria. Another point is that most of these meetings held abroad which took away such huge amount of money should have been handled by the embassy of Nigeria to save cost. Nigeria has competent representatives (embassies) in most countries of the world and in matters of this nature, it is only wise that the federal government of Nigeria asks the embassy to handle, which is part of why the embassies of Nigeria are situated abroad. Issues of huge importance can be attended to by delegates from Nigeria and in doing so, lots of money would be saved for the country (Nigeria). It does not make sense to travel abroad to attend meetings which the embassy of Nigeria can handle. If you invest that nineteen million Naira to the economy of the country (Nigeria), it can go a long way in putting smiles on the faces of most Nigerians who are in urgent need, therefore we (Viewers Corner News team) are appealing to the federal government of Nigeria to allow the embassies of Nigeria to handle certain matters rather than sending large number of delegates from the country (Nigeria) who would at the end of their travel spend huge amount of tax payers money. This is absolutely economic waste which should have been avoided if the right steps were taken.
