The recent declaration allegedly made by governor El-Rufai of Kaduna state on the issue of arresting the Nigeria Labour Congress leader (Mr. Wabba Ayuba) is laughable. At this point, governor El-Rufai of Kaduna state got it all wrong. Every Nigerian citizen has the right to peacefully protest for their rights, which is what the NLC leader (Mr. Wabba Ayuba) and his members are doing. The only thing governor El-Rufai of Kaduna state should have done is to negotiate with workers through their leaders and have their grievances settled instead of placing a ransom on the arrest of the NLC leader (Mr. Wabba Ayuba), which is uncalled for.
Again, firing employees during this critical period should not have been the best option; instead, a peaceful method of resolving all issues should have been used. Governor El-Rufai of Kaduna state has indirectly put a huge dent in his political career because his negative actions towards the people of Kaduna state have not been encouraging, which would most probably affect his presidential ambition. As a leader, dialogue would always put you on the winning side rather than using oppressive methods to bring down workers demanding for their rights. Such an attitude is unsuitable for any aspiring politician who may run for president in the future.
The Viewers Corner News team would like to take this opportunity to urge Kaduna state governor El-Rufai to tread carefully and establish a good workers-governor relationship in his state for the future.
