Lots of people in Nigeria are using sentiments as a means to administer justice, this is one of the problems facing the country Nigeria and is also affecting development. Take for instance, the case of Senate leader, Bukola Saraki, everyone in Nigeria knows that he went against the law in so many ways, we don’t need the court of law to tell us that for him to falsely declared his assets as alleged is against the law of the land as the number three citizen of the country, Nigeria. Some people very close to him bended the law in his favour, this is not right. Even if everyone assumed he is a good man for example but let the truth prevail. Senators who are supposed to be protecting the law backed him but if it was an ordinary person who has no one to speak for him or her, the issue would have been a different one so let us leave sentiments aside if we actually want Nigeria to move forward. There are also other politicians that are in this Saraki’s category, instead of bringing them to face the law, sentiments again comes in and the politicians are allowed to go free. This is very wrong and for the country Nigeria to move forward, the rule of law must take its due course. Viewers Corner News and Advisory team are appealing that everyone in Nigeria should abide by the law irrespective of who is involve. Again, the recent case involving the Nigeria ex minister of petroleum Mrs Diezani Alison Madueke is another typical example, some people are already speaking in her favour when they know that she looted lots of money from the Nigerian treasury. Somehow we understand that all these are allegations and until proven guilty by a competent court of law, then we can categorically call her a thief but again evidence is everywhere so let us play down a bit on sentiments like we have already suggested. This is just an appeal to the Nigerian public.
We are pleading that everyone in Nigeria should please support President Buhari’s administration in the fight to make Nigeria great, most especially in the areas of corruption and the rule of law as means for a better governance. Everyone in Nigeria should say No to sentiments, let the rule of law prevail.
