NIGERIAN JUDICIARY BEFORE PRESIDENT BUHARI’S GOVERNMENT CAME TO POWER HAD LOTS OF CREDIBILITY PROBLEMS AND THAT WAS AMONG THE REASONS NIGERIA NEVER MOVED FORWARD. GREED AND LOVE FOR WORLDLY ACQUISITIONS BY THOSE DISHONEST INDIVIDUALS RUNNING THIS ARM OF GOVERNMENT WERE ALL PART OF IT.

Viewers Corner News correspondent in Lagos (Nigeria) gathered recently that a Magistrate court in Abeokuta (Nigeria) sentenced a 28 year old man to 7 years in jail for stealing one laptop. The chief magistrate took this decision to set an example for those that would be planning to carry out such operation in future rather than looking for a better means to make a living. Viewers Corner News condemn stealing of any kind no matter how small it may be but the issue here is that the 7 years jail term given to this young man is too harsh compared to the offense he committed. If that boy had money to fight his case most probably he may not have gone to jail, this is a very wrong judgement given by that Magistrate court in Abeokuta (Nigeria). What we expect the magistrate court to have done was send the young man to three or six months in jail or give him probation which should have been more appropriate for such offense, as long as he went there without a gun to rob anyone. In Nigeria today, politicians steal billions of Naira, they ruined and mortgage the future of the country and her citizens and when they are caught sometimes, they are asked to return the stolen fund and matter ends there. if we look at  these politicians facing trials today, almost all of them committed more terrible offense than this young man that stole only one laptop and was thrown into jail where he will be for the next seven years. Even the young man may not have money to hire a good lawyer to defend himself which makes his case more difficult but the big names in Nigeria will steal huge sum of money from Nigerian treasury and use part of it to hire lawyers (SAN) to defend them and at the end the case would be thrown into a trash box. Recently it was alleged that a lawyer (SAN) defending governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti state collected 74 million Naira as a fee to do his work which is so outrageous in our opinion. Now with such huge amount of money being paid by a governor to a lawyer (SAN), what do you expect would be the outcome of this case? We leave Nigerians to figure out the answer to this question and with this, Nigerians would understand what we are trying to say here. In the past Bukola Saraki (the senate president of Nigeria) allegedly hired hundreds of lawyers to defend him, these are men with lots of skeletons in their cupboards and still they are deliberating on national issues and no judge has jailed them. Every time their cases come up, all we hear is from one adjournment to the other but a young man of 28 years whom the Nigerian politicians frustrated has just been thrown into jail for stealing one laptop. This is injustice, where is our conscience? This is a situation where the bigger thief will go free while the lesser thief will be in jail forever which is very bad. Again we want to remind the Nigerian Judiciary and those lawyers in Nigeria who have sold their conscience for money to please think of the poor and always know that the law which sent the lesser thief to spend 7 years in jail is also the same law which should be applied for the bigger thief or even more, therefore we (Viewers Corner News team) are appealing to the Nigeria Judiciary to review their system to suit modern norms. We are pleading to those Nigerian lawyers like we mentioned before who have already sold their souls for money to always remember that no matter what they do to cover the truth and paint it red instead of white, that a higher force bigger than you all which is the Almighty God is watching at your wrong activities in Nigeria and those of you who have refused to do what is right for humanity. We believe that a day of reckoning shall come when everyone should give account of his services, therefore now is the time to correct your terrible atrocities towards your fellow human beings before it is too late. Lawyers should not forget the oath they took before they started practicing as lawyers, please always have that in mind because is like some of these lawyers have forgotten about the oath and that may have repercussions in the long run. Think about it.
