There is nothing too bad increasing prices of petrol, electricity and other items so as to boost the growth of the economy of the country. The problem is that it was done at a time people have not fully recovered from the coronavirus pandemic which has crippled the economy of almost all the countries in the world. As we (Viewers Corner News team) speak, businesses are on their lowest level struggling to pay workers’ salaries which has affected not only Nigeria but other countries of the world. Even in most advance countries, taxes paid by citizens on various items have been waived until the economy picks up again, meaning that the federal government of Nigeria should not increase prices of petrol, electricity and other essential items for now because it would affect the poor masses of the country (Nigeria). Again, if the federal government of Nigeria does not reverse the price of petrol to the original price including electricity and other items, seriously President Buhari’s led government may face series of protests from the people of Nigeria based on our (Viewers Corner News team) findings which may not be good for APC/president Buhari’s led government that has been working to make Nigeria great. Therefore, we (Viewers Corner News team) are appealing to the federal government of Nigeria under the leadership of President Buhari to kindly re-examine their stand on these issues before things get out of hand.
