It was with good intention that Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) was established but unfortunately, politicians without conscience in Nigeria were appointed to manage the ministry. Today trillions of Naira have been wasted by politicians through fake contract awards so as to embezzle billions of Naira from the commission while those the money was meant for were left in abject poverty. We (Viewers Corner News team) are appealing to the current leadership of Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) and the federal government of Nigeria to place a harsh punishment on any of those who stole money from the commission (NDDC) if found guilty. Our (Viewers Corner News team) worry today is that President Buhari’s military regime of the 80’s was cut short by General Ibrahim Babangida who is a spoiler and has no good intention for the country (Nigeria). History will always judge General Ibrahim Babangida and other leaders who brought pains to the people of Nigeria. Our (Viewers Corner News team) reason for saying so is that in the 80’s during President Buhari’s military government, there was zero tolerance for corruption which is still destroying the economy of the country (Nigeria). President Buhari of today is not what Nigeria as a country needs to move to the next level but President Buhari of the 80’s. Take it or leave it, that is the truth. Though President Buhari’s government at the moment is trying but not doing enough in so many areas to fix issues properly. Look at Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) being run like an ATM outfit and no serious action has been taken to bring those thieves to face trial. Even in All Progressives Congress (APC) party, so many things are going wrong there including corruption which the leadership of the party has no clue on how to get the problem sorted out. However, Viewers Corner News team shall continue to plead with the federal government of Nigeria under the leadership of President Buhari to go back to the drawing board and make amend. Corruption is destroying the country (Nigeria) rapidly and the only way to bring such situation to an end is when those involved in this disgraceful act are brought to face trial and if convicted, a very harsh penalty should be given to them which would serve as a lesson to others planning to take such route.
