The communication and digital economy minister of Nigeria (Mr. Isa Pantami) is a man with a nice profile and is highly educated but has dangerously soiled his hands by speaking recklessly in the past. To some extent, Mr. Isa Pantami should not be completely blamed for his actions of speaking recklessly since he was a teenager, as he claimed, but rather the blame should go to the federal government of Nigeria agency that found him worthy of becoming Nigeria’s minister of communication and digital economy. Such a sensitive position should in the first place be given to an individual with a neutral mind who is not affiliated in anyway to any questionable organisation because the data such an individual in that position is handling requires neutrality. Communication and digital economy minister is a very sensitive position which should not be handled by just anyone but the best individual. However, no matter how people see Mr. Isa Pantami right now, the deed has been done even if he resigns as the majority of Nigerians both at home and abroad are demanding him to do. It may not change the fact that the information he may go with could be damaging to the country. Our point on this issues is that the agency of the federal government of Nigeria who is conducting investigation on individuals to be nominated for positions of authority in the country before an appointment is finally approved should do proper background checks before finally giving the go ahead for ratification of any appointment. The Viewers Corner News team also believes that the agency of the federal government of Nigeria may at some point be compromised before finally giving Mr. Isa Pantami’s name as a fit candidate for the job. On a final note, let there be proper background checks of an individual before any appointment is made, because if such was done on Mr. Isa Pantami’s case, his past records starting from when he was a teenager would have been noticed. This again should be seen as a guide towards future appointments in Nigeria.
