MOTHER TERESA HAS BEEN DECLARED A SAINT AND A MODEL OF MERCY BY POPE FRANCIS.

Mother Teresa, the Albanian-born nun was on Sunday, September 4, 2016 declared a saint and a model of mercy by Pope Francis. During the ceremony of canonization in St. Peter’s Square at the Vatican, mother Teresa was praised by both Christians and non Christians for the care she showered on the destitute who were dying in the streets of India during her life on earth. The canonization of Blessed Teresa of Calcutta attracted thousands of Christians around the world including hundreds of nuns from the Missionaries of Charity sisterhood which was founded by Mother Teresa. The president of Albania (Bujar Nishani) and Prime Minister (Edi Rama) also attended the Canonization Mass for Mother Teresa.
Mother Teresa (born Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhiu) in 1910, she set up her Missionaries of Charity in the slums of Kolkata in 1950. She devoted her life to helping the less privileged in India and in 1997, she died in Kolkata at the age of 87.
