It was reported that over 500 illegally working foreigners, mostly Chinese nationals involved in fraudulent activities have been arrested by Philippine police and immigration authorities. According to the report, those arrested were working illegally in the country, they were also involved in telecommunications and investment scams. On Wednesday (9 October), 542 foreigners without work permits were arrested in their company premises in metropolitan Manila. They were accused of defrauding victims mostly in China by blackmailing or tricking them into sending out money. Our (Viewers Corner News) correspondent in Manila learned that Chinese government provided information that led to the arrest of over 400 Chinese and other workers from Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Taiwan and Vietnam. The arrest made by Philippine police and immigration authorities is one of the biggest of such mass arrests this year.
