A court in France recently ordered Marine Le Pen (the 50-year-old leader of the National Rally party) to subject herself to psychiatric evaluation as part of the court’s investigation into why Marine Le Pe posted the images of Islamic State executions on twitter. According to the report, Le Pen posted three graphic images of Islamic State executions including the beheading of James Foley (American journalist) on Twitter in December 2015, some weeks after Islamic state jihadists killed 130 people in attacks in Paris. The judge ordered for the psychiatric evaluation to know if Le Pen suffers from any mental illness and if that could contribute to her posting such horrible images on twitter.
Le Pen on Thursday rejected the court order, saying that she would skip the test. The case against her falls under a law punishing violent images that can be viewed by a minor, and if convicted, she faces up to three years in prison and a fine of 75,000 euros ($87,000).
